The dark she wolf stalked the meadow in silence, the night air cool on her dark fur. Over the last few days rain had returned to the parched lands of Abhaya. The drought had come to a abrupt end, which she was immensly grateful for. Night was sick of not being able to find a respite from the heat, having a nearly black coat made it so hard to live during the summer. Which was why she was mainly active during the night hours, when the sun was gone and the night was cool. The she wolf walked along, her mind on a million different things. Mainly her thoughts were consumed with her sister and the path she was taking. Skeletal was a vicious female and had found a even more vicious mate to rule by her side. She couldn't stand Demonic at all frankly, but she kept these thoughts to herself. The last thing she wanted to do was cause strife within the pack itself. She knew her sister would probably pick him over her in the long run. Something about that male brought out a darker side in her sister, it was odd. She honestly hoped the male would get tired of pack life and would go off elsewhere. They had started a conflict with a neighboring pack, and for what reason she was unaware of. All she knew was a male had came into their lands, and they had murdered him.
Moving up onto a hill, the dark she wolf watched the lands around her. Her gold eyes falling on the distant herd of deer. They were oblivious to her approach, and she silently scanned the herd for weakness. It didn't take long for her to decide on a young animal, after months of going without a decent meal she wanted to gorge on meat. Nightmare stalked the herd in silence, her dark form melting with the shadows. She was in no rush to hunt, she wanted to stalk for a bit. It was a better feeling, the anitipation was worth it. When she got close enough to the herd, she leapt from the shadows as quietly as a cat. She didn't growl or bark, instead her paws silently smacked the earth as she raced towards her target. The herd reacted late and a few of the does leapt high in the air before racing towards the tree line in the far distance.
The buck also raced away, leaving the young animal to the she wolf. Night wasted little time in slamming the young deer into the dirt. Her blood lust making her body tremble as she stared down at the frightened animal. Laughing almost cruelly the wolf jerked her head forward to rip into the deer's chest cavity. She wasn't even going to kill it, instead the female began eating it alive. The fawn cried out loud and long for it's mother or father.. anyone to save it from this terror. The herd however had abandoned the fawn to the wolves so to speak. She knew that the adults would not return for it, they never did. Deer were scared and fickle animals..
Ripping another piece of flesh from the thrashing animals side, she chewed slowly enjoying the taste of hot blood and meat in her mouth. She made sure to not attack any vital areas, she wanted to watch this animal suffer. And suffer it did, it took quite awhile for it to die from blood loss. Nightmare enjoyed every second, every thrash and cry was music to her ears. When the fawn finally died, she began to gorge on the meat. This was indeed a good way to start her day, with a full stomach and the urge to destroy something else. Perhaps another deer would die that night.. or something else.
Whatever crossed her path was in for a lot of pain that night.

It was the blood that drew his attention more than the female who had actually brought the deer down. Demonic had this, almost, evil obsession with blood. There was nothing he wouldn't do to be able to taste it. Wolf, deer or small animal. It didn't matter. Blood was blood and he enjoyed feeling it's warmth slide down his throat. Like a shark, he located the smell of the fresh kill from almost a mile away and found himself turning his paw steps in it's direction. Since he was still within the confines of his territory, he knew he could easily intrude on the kill and take what he pleased. It was a bonus from Skeletal making him her Alpha. Ever since receiving the title, he had done but throw his weight around. To him, it wasn't so much the mate that came with the position, it was the power. Perhaps Skeletal didn't realize the mistake she had made. Maybe because he'd never do anything to initially hurt her. After all, Skeletal had once been his Alphess and old habits died hard. He still couldn't help but respect her and follow her orders. However, he had much more freedom then he did before and he loved being able to use it. But there was still one wolf within the pack who didn't approve of his new title. She still continued to treat him lower than herself and that was Skeletal's sister and Beta, Nightmare. He had had a respect for the female, as well, when he was nothing more than a warrior but now she did nothing but get under his skin and irritate him. Like a fly he couldn't shush. He was sure if Nightmare had her way, she'd force Skeletal to demote him again and probably chase him from the pack. Not that he understood why. It wasn't like he'd lifted a paw at the female before.
The scent of blood was getting closer and before it came into view, he got a full face full of the very female's scent, forcing him to stop where he was, black hackles rising along his spine and deep golden eyes narrowing. Speak of the devil. Literally. But who was he to show his "fear" so to speak. He moved forward again, reminding himself that his female was lower than himself and only her words could hurt him. When the deer came into view, he smirked, eyes instantly latching onto Nightmare. "Fancy, meeting you here." His voice was low and gruff, giving it an almost sexy tone. As he walked up to her, his body seemed to overshadow her own, a rippling mass of muscles carried each leg one in front of the other, his tail swaying absently behind him. In the sunlight, his flecks of silver in his black fur shown brightly. "Mind if I join you?" Before he waited for her answer, he helped himself, digging into the still warm flesh and ripping out a piece for himself, the thickening blood oozing onto his chin and dripping onto his paws and chest.

Night like any sensible huntress paid attention to her surroundings, no matter how good the meal was. She knew her place in the food chain and was aware that a bear or large cat could easily steal her carcass. However she was more surprised by the distinct scent of the Alpha male who was approaching. On instinct she felt disgust roll in her stomach but outwardly her appearance didn't change in the slightest. Once upon a time, she had liked Demonic quite a bit.. but his new position made him arrogant. He now thought he was 'king shit' so to speak. His rank had gone to his head and she often watched how he harassed the other pack members.. and how it got on her nerves. For the most part she kept her thoughts to herself, but sometimes.. she wanted to speak up. Nightmare wanted to complain to her sister about him, and perhaps get her to see the light. For now however it all remained a big secret, one that chewed on her insides. The dark she wolf watched his approach with a impassive look on her face, her fur bristling more on instinct then actual emotion. As his voice reached her ears, she pulled them back, her slender form neatly moving away with a almost feline type grace.
He dug into her carcass without a second thought, which annoyed her further. Gold eyes gleamed silently in the night as she let her 'Alpha' feed. She knew the way of pack order and since he was above her.. he could claim it all for himself. Until he gave permission she could not continue eating her prize. Night decided it was best to turn her attention elsewhere so she did not get more upset at his presence on this night. A part of her wondered where her sister was at, normally they were together. Even though she noted that Demonic did not seem all that thrilled by her sister. He almost seemed annoyed by her advances and flirty nature. Licking the blood and small chunks of flesh from her mouth the she wolf moved further back into the shadows. She assumed that her sister would arrive at any moment and the leading couple would take over this kill. It was one of the reasons why she liked to hunt alone.
Watching him eating her meat made her stomach clench with desire. Night sighed heavily and forced her eyes towards the ground. She had to maintain composure if she wanted him to not harass her for weakness. Drawing in another heavy breath she finally spoke up, "Well someone had to hunt right.." Her own voice was a husky whisper, her ears flickered in his direction as she waited for some kind of response.

He had a perverse enjoyment in watching her watch him eat her own kill. His body language warned her not to interfere, that she was not permitted to eat with him. Not that he hated her and wanted to "stick it to her" so to speak. He purely loved to watch the "agony" of others in his own amusement. And to be honest, he wasn't really hungry. He took a few more bites and lifted his head to look at her, blood oozing from his chin which he quickly licked up, his eyes alight with a demonic glow.
"Cute." he said with a grin. "A hidden insult. I like it." Inside, his mind growled. Of course, Skeletal and Nightmare were sisters. It was possible Skeletal complained to Nightmare that they had yet to have a successful hunt together as the Alpha pair and for Nightmare, as well, to be rubbing it into his face... Let's just say he was a little irritated. But he wouldn't give her that satisfaction. Instead, he chose to blow off her little insult. He stood from the kill and moved away from it, indicating he was done and she could eat again. It hadn't been his intentions to take her whole kill, after all.
"So tell me, Nightmare. What are your current dark brooding plans to "do away with me"?" he asked, finding a spot a good distance from her and flopping down onto his side to lick the blood from his paws and chest, his famous smirk on his face the whole time.

As he moved quietly away from the kill, the she wolf didn't move from her spot. Patience was needed here and she didn't want to seem all that desperate for the food laying before her feet. Instead she followed the large male's movements in silence, as he laid down she stepped out of the dark. Her body was rigid, muscle stiff as she took her place back at the carcass. Quietly she chewed the meat but found her appetite was gone, mainly because she smelled him all over it. Blowing air out of her nose in a snort the beta female ripped another large chunk of flesh from the deer's side. She chewed slowly almost as though she was in thought. Swallowing, she heard his words and almost laughed out loud at his statement. Indeed what were her plans to get rid of him? At the moment she really didn't have much of a plan going on. Nightmare knew that until Skeletal got sick of the male before her, it wouldn't matter what she did. If anything by attacking her precious "mate", Night could lose her rank and power within the pack itself. That was not something she was willing to give up over him. Raising her head slightly the black she wolf smirked in response, "Why on earth would you ever think of such a thing.. Demonic.. Your my brother in law.. my sister true love.. I would never want you to lose your place here at the Falls.."
Her voice dripped with sarcasm, gold eyes lit up with a dark amusement. Most of the time she would never admit it, but she enjoyed these verbal confrontations. He amused a dark part of her brain, one she ignored most often. Demonic was something she didn't quite like and yet she wanted to know more about him. It was a confusing mess and she was careful to not let on to him anything. The pack couldn't know her interest nor could her sister ever know these terrible thoughts. Night would never betray her sister in such a fashion, and so she glanced away for a moment. Chewing on another hunk of flesh she quietly observed the world around the two of them. How even so soon after the attack on their herd the deer had returned to the meadow. They seemed way more cautious now and with good reason, her gaze moved on to another animal that hopped along in silence. A rabbit.
Far in the distance she caught sight of a coyote approaching, wanting to scavenge off of her carcass. A part of her wanted to growl at it but decided not to do such a thing. Let it go to close and she'd tear it's miserable heart from it's chest without care. A few more bites were taken before the dark female moved away from the deer, her thoughts on relaxing for the time. Watching Demonic cleaning himself the she wolf moved to do the same thing, her tongue removing the blood that had dripped across her chest and her legs as well.
"You are way to paranoid.. honestly it's kind of cute.." She laughed softly at her remark as she groomed herself. Gold eyes watching the coyote with a keen interest.
